Section 01 of 12
Context
What the Codex is, and what it is not.
The Codex is our constitution — a living document of how it goes in our gameworld.
It is not a rulebook handed down from above. It is the current best articulation of what we've learned about living and working together: our values, our principles, the language we use, the things we exchange, the rhythms we keep, the maps we navigate by, and the processes we lean on when things get hard.
It is written in the open because a village with a secret operating system is not a village. Anyone considering joining should be able to read exactly how it goes here before they decide.
It changes. Every section carries the assumption that a future version of us will know better. The last section — The Living Document — describes how it changes.
If you are reading this and something rings false, that is information. Bring it to a circle.
