Section 11 of 12
Organization
Membership, roles, and circles.
Membership is relational, not transactional. You become a member by showing up, contributing, and being introduced to the village in person — not by signing up. There is no membership fee. There is an expectation of contribution.
Roles are held, not assigned for life. Current standing roles:
- Spaceholders — responsible for the container of specific gatherings.
- Village weavers — responsible for the connective tissue between people.
- Land tenders — responsible for the physical places we gather.
- Digital stewards — responsible for this site and our shared tools.
Circles are the unit of governance. A circle forms around a domain (a gathering, a project, a question), does its work, and dissolves or continues as needed. The whole-village circle is where Codex changes and membership are decided.
Onboarded members are listed on Members. Being listed means you can be contacted directly and you carry the collective's name.
