Section 05 of 12
Distinctions
Shared language — words we use in a specific way.
A distinction is a word we've agreed to use precisely, so we can think together without talking past each other.
Gameworld — the particular reality a group is playing inside: its rules, stakes, currencies, and win conditions. We say "in our gameworld" to mark that we're describing how it works here, not everywhere.
Spaceholder — someone responsible for the container of a gathering: its safety, its edges, its pace. Not the same as facilitator or teacher.
Village weaver — someone whose work is the connective tissue between people: introductions, follow-ups, noticing who's drifting.
Edgeworker — someone living and working at the edge of the dominant culture, building the next one.
Hook — the thing that catches you: someone's reaction, your own fear, the pull of the feed. To be unhookable is not to be numb; it's to feel the hook and not be dragged by it.
Rupture / repair — the break in connection, and the deliberate work of restoring it. We name both as normal parts of the cycle.
Held / holding — being supported by the container and the people in it; doing that supporting for someone else.
